The Transfer that Won’t Go Away – Everyone is Still Talking Ronaldo

Looking for a new car? Ronaldo's is for sale.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s big money move from the red soccer uniform of Manchester United to the newly redesigned Real Madrid soccer uniform has still had the European soccer media buzzing all week long.
Some were still questioning the logic behind paying over $140 million dollars for a 24 year old winger, however good he may have been at Old Trafford. The prime minister of Spain, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, said publically that under current world economic conditions paying so much money to put one player into a soccer uniform was “more than excessive” but that his government was “powerless” to do anything about Real Madrid’s recent spending spree.
It was a sentiment echoed by English soccer legend and Manchester United director Sir Bobby Charlton. He admitted that the amount of money involved was “vulgar” but justified his club taking the deal by saying “it (soccer) is after all a business”.
Ronaldo himself was partying in NY for some of the week before returning to the North of England to start selling up his Manchester life in preparation for his move to Spain. He started off by selling his Porsche 911 Carrera. The dealer who took it off his hands is now offering it for sale in the local Auto Trader magazine for $130,000, complete with autographed log book. Perhaps there is a Manchester United fan out there looking for a little more than a replica soccer uniform to remember Ronaldo by.

Team USA Head to South Africa to Face Tough Competition.

The US Team
The Confederations Cup which begins this weekend in South Africa will give US soccer fans a chance to see how this year’s team shapes up against teams wearing some of the most famous soccer uniforms in history.
Brazil and Italy are both taking to field in this prelude to the World Cup in 2010, as are Spain, Egypt, Iraq, New Zealand and host nation South Africa.
Placed in Group B, the boys in USA soccer uniforms have a tough schedule right from the start. Their first game on June 15th is against the mighty Italians and on the 18th they face the men in the famous green and yellow soccer uniforms, Brazil. Egypt round out Group B, facing the US on June 21st.
The US is fielding a fairly strong team, but the big boys are taking this competition very seriously too. The only big star missing from Brazil’s lineup is Ronaldinho, who has actually been dropped by the national coach. Kaka, who has been enjoying so many headlines recently, will be there, as will Spanish sensation Cesc Fabergas, back to health after missing much of his season with club side Arsenal due to nagging injury.
The history of the Confederations Cup is fairly short, the first being played as the King Fahd cup in 1991. The USA soccer team were participants at that first cup and have been back in 1992, 1999 and 2003, achieving third place finishes in both 1992 and 1999.
The Confederations Cup this year should be a hard fought competition and especially interesting to watch as the 2010 World Cup draws closer.
The USA team was invited to the 2009 Confederations Cup because of their 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup title win over Mexico. US soccer fans may remember the brilliant 73rd minute goal by the previously unknown Benny Feilhaber.
Can Manchester City Spend Their Way to the Top?

Gareth Barry will be playing in a sky blue soccer uniform next season.
Manchester City, the Sky Blues, have had to live in the shadows of the red soccer uniforms of their cross town rivals Manchester United for years. Now it seems that City manager Mark Hughes has been given the green light by City’s wealthy Saudi owners to spend, spend, spend all summer long to get top talent into their sky blue soccer uniforms.
Man City scored a big coup earlier this week when they lured Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry, who also dons the white England international soccer uniform in midfield, to the City of Manchester Stadium after 12 years at Villa Park.
But Hughes, who played in both Everton and England soccer uniforms with great success for over 15 years, is looking even further. Manchester City are now front runners to sign Carlos Tevez, Manchester United’s brilliant Argentinean striker. It is believed that the offer made by United to the striker is just not enough, and they are unwilling to go higher.
He also has his sights set on Champions League winners Barcelona’s Eto’s, one of the goal scorers in the recent triumph over United, and a very talented player.
Manchester City finished a respectable 10th in the English premiership this season, but are determined it seems to mount a real challenge in 2010, and it seems they certainly have the money to help them achieve that goal.
Cristiano Ronaldo – Fashion Icon or Fashion Flop?

Cristiano's Interesting Vacation Style
With the English soccer season officially over, soccer stars are swapping their soccer uniforms for vacation attire. For the biggest soccer stars, being chased by photographers while on holiday is usual, the British press love to chronicle the exploits of soccer players once they take off their soccer uniforms.
Cristiano Ronaldo has had an amazing season with Manchester United, and has gone on vacation to Italy. Still the big story back in England, as there is still speculation that he will be swapping his United soccer jersey for a Real Madrid soccer uniform next season. After Manchester United lost their Champions League title last week to Barcelona, rumors are that Cristiano is unhappy again, despite assurances to the press he is staying at Old Trafford.
Maybe it is that unhappiness that was the reason for the interesting outfit that he was photographed in the other day, which has been splashed all over the British tabloids. Cris is always a flashy dresser out of soccer uniforms, but his latest stab at cutting edge fashion went a little further than normal.
Very tight white shorts and a baby blue shirt complete with a pink baseball cap and a flower tucked behind his ear. I doubt that even Carson Kressley would approve. Very different from the man who stood, almost weeping ,at the side of the pitch in Rome last week, in his red soccer jersey.
Proving though that he is still beloved by the lads in Manchester and beyond, a national radio DJ in the UK challenged guys to send in their own pictures of themselves wearing flowers a la Ronaldo and she received hundreds of entries within the space of just a few hours. From construction workers to schoolboys they all took on the new Ronaldo look.
Manchester United Fail to Keep Champions League Crown

Barcelona celebrate their victory.
Thousands of Manchester United fans, dressed in their best replica soccer uniforms, travelled to Rome in the hope that they could see their heroes make history yet again, by becoming the first team to repeat as Champions League winners in the contest’s history.
Resplendent in their white away soccer uniforms, Manchester United hit the pitch confident that they could achieve the feat. At first, it did look good, with Cristiano Ronaldo making a number of excellent challenges early on.
A goal against the run of play in 10th minute from Barcelona’s Eto’o changed the tone of the game for good. After that Manchester United seemed to be having a hard time just keeping up with their Spanish opponents.
One of the games sub plots was to be the showdown between Ronaldo and Barcelona’s brilliant Argentine, Lionel Messi. If that was the case, Messi won this round as he was effective and precise, scoring Barcelona’s 2nd goal in the 70th minute. Ronaldo played hard; it just was not to be.
Barcelona’s performance earned them the Champions League trophy for the third time. The sea of Catalan fans, dressed in their best soccer uniforms too, were joyous and noisy, a sharp contrast to the gloom evident on the red side of the stadium.
It was a big disappointment for the team and fans alike. But maybe no one more so than manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who had spoken just a few days ago about his desire to see his side elevate themselves to become one of the all time great European sides. But with 2 years left to go before his self imposed retirement on his 70th birthday, Sir Alex still has the chance.
Reversible Soccer Uniforms: Getting the Best of Both Sides
Filed under: Home/Away Soccer Uniforms, League Soccer Uniforms, Reversible Soccer Uniforms
Most people, when buying uniforms for their team, they are looking for something simple, yet stylish. Reversible uniforms are these exact two things. They are two jerseys in one, with one color on each side, so the uniform can just be reversed. You have a home and away color on one uniform! This is something that works very well and it gets rid of certain actions that may be annoying such as assigning each player a jersey ahead of time. With reversible jerseys you do not need to put the numbers on them, so before each game you just handout uniforms, rather than relying on the kids to handle their own uniforms or making sure each player gets the correct number before each match. Why even bother buying these uniforms from TotallySoccer though?
Well first off, like I already stated, there is no extra hassle with assigning numbers for individual players, as well as assigning colors for teams ahead of time. With 2 different colors there will be no conflict between the two teams in this way. Also, you will not need to track the players either. They will all be wearing the same exact uniform. That’s not even the best part either. Since these uniforms are essentially two in one, the final price will be cheaper as well. You will not be paying for 2 seperate jerseys, rather you will only be paying forn one and a half. You not only save hassle, but funds as well. While reversible uniforms have all fo these advantages, there is still one facet of them you might want to be aware of as a potential buyer. Since there are two uniforms in one, this makes the overall uniform much heavier and hotter for a player to wear. While these uniforms are great to have and efficient, you should be aware of the discomfort they may cause in certain conditions such as severe heat. With TotallySoccer, your decision will be made worthwhile. Get your reversiblw soccer uniforms now and begin getting the best of both worlds.
What Not to Wear – When Good Soccer Uniforms Go Bad

Someone once thought this was cool.
Attention all soccer clubs. Are you having a difficult time figuring out just the right look for your next set of soccer uniforms? Arguing about the right colors and patterns, where to put the logo, and such things? A great soccer uniform should enhance the way the team looks, and therefore the quality of play. A great soccer uniforms supplier can help you make the right decisions if you are stuck. For instance Jerry Mac and his staff are great people to ask.
You see, even professional soccer clubs, with all their vast resources don’t always get it right when it comes to choosing the right soccer uniforms. I recently came across an amusing little website that actually details some of the downright nightmarish looks that some of the world’s best known soccer clubs have dared to sport on the pitch.
It’s actually hard to decide which of the soccer kits is worst, they are all so awful, although the tie dyed monstrosity sported by Colchester United in the 80’s may well take the prize. It is definitely a great example of what not to wear onto the soccer pitch. When choosing the new soccer uniforms for your team, remember, what’s in fashion right now is not really relevant in the soccer world, it is more about suiting up in a playable , comfortable, polished looking soccer uniform. After all, there were a few minutes somewhere when tie dye was considered chic.
Philadelphia Union – New Soccer Uniforms Explained

The newest MLS team reveals their identity
The MLS continues to grow in both size and popularity every year. The Philadelphia Union will begin play in the spring of 2010. This week the team officially revealed its soccer uniform colors, and the logo and crest that will adorn these new soccer uniforms. The team will be playing in navy blue and gold, and the logo features a rather menacing looking snake. But does it mean anything. Philly being as proud of its history as it is, of course the newest sports side in town would design their soccer uniforms to reflect that.
According to the press release, navy blue and gold were chosen as those were the colors of the American Continental Army, formed by the thirteen states to fight the civil war. The snake is apparently actually a rattlesnake, inspired by cartoons Ben Franklin published in the Philadelphia Gazette in the 1750’s. Franklin felt that the rattlesnake was a good emblem for the thirteen colonies, reminding of the danger of disunity amongst allies. The motto “Jungite aut Perite” is a latin phrase translating as “Join or Die” also often used by Ben Franklin in his writings.
So as you can tell, the Union’s brand new soccer uniforms not only look pretty nice, but have a serious history behind them as well. In proper professional soccer fashion, official merchandise is already available, so that PA fans can sport the team colors even before they know who is on the team!
